Jean-François, Jean-Pierre, please tell us about ARKÉA OMNIUM 2023.
Jean-François Remesy: For me, the ARKÉA OMNIUM 2023 is first of all a beautiful victory, shared with my friend Jean-Pierre in a dream atmosphere! What a joy to find the Basque Coast... this region has given me much in my golfing past. I think of all those hours of learning with Martin Ado, Tito Lassalle and many others.
It was also a great joy to see my idols, Jean Garaialde, José-Maria Olazabal, Olivier Léglise, Bernard Pascassio and so many others... a sincere pleasure to meet so many professional friends and teachers, and of course my friends and relatives.
The ARKEA OMNIUM, it’s a great atmosphere and a very nice organization. I had a great week, I look forward to coming back for the 2024 edition.
Jean-Pierre Sallat : The ARKÉA OMNIUM 2023 is a great victory, especially with this field of players. I had a lot of fun playing with Jeff, my friend. And then, playing with Txema Olazabal was a great moment (Editor’s note: 1st round). I had in front of me a passionate, sporty, humble guy who does not talk about himself and plays with a big heart. I saw some fantastic shots, including an exceptional chip in the 16. And he came to congratulate us warmly on the green of 18, it was really nice.
ARKÉA OMNIUM. It is a top organization, dedicated teams (employees of golf, commissioners), an Alain de Soultrait who gave himself without counting, and remarkable sponsors. I hope that everyone found it because for me, and I think I speak for all the players, I spent three wonderful days.
And let’s not forget the golf of Arcangues which is a magical place. It ages like good wine, the club really does a great job to improve the course year after year.
What advice would you give to play the best on the course of Arcangues?
JFR : To understand the sloping shots, to learn how to position yourself to succeed them.
JPS : Always think carefully about the stakes because the course is defensive and we play few shots with our feet flat.
What is the best golfing memory of your career?
JFR : Without a doubt, my first Open de France in 2004.
JPS : Getting my card on the Senior Tour.
